Job Description

The Manufacturing Technician is a key member of the Production Group. The position is multifunctional and is responsible for the receipt of raw materials, management of raw materials, and then the formulation of advanced and complex plant nutrition products. These finished products are then made available in bulk and sent off for packaging and dispatch of finished goods.

This position has a high level of interaction with operational staff including the Accounts & Stock Control Officer (ASCO), Production Supervisor, Senior Production Chemist, Quality Assurance Manager, and other Production Group roles.

Job Details:

  • Work Onsite - Eastwood Libis, QC
  • Schedule: Shifting (Shifts might be 10 to 12 hours per day)
  • *This Job involves you to travel to other countries such as China and other countries to do the actual job.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with relevant staff the progress of orders, in particular delays in dispatch
  • Carry out good housekeeping practices to maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness
  • Responsible for the formulation of advanced plant nutrition products for sale to commercial farming enterprises.
  • These tasks include but are not limited to
    • Batching of raw materials and preparations for manufacture formulation processes
    • Blending of chemicals in specialized tank systems and other post-preparation actions to form high-quality finished products according to documented formulation procedures
    • Recording details of the formulation process on batch sheets
    • Routine sampling of batches for submission to the laboratory for QC testing
    • Filtering and decanting finished product as preparation for packing-off
    • Setting up machinery by positioning parts and loading materials.
    • Monitoring one or more stages of the manufacturing process while equipment is running.
    • Assessing the quality of products and identifying any flaws
    • Troubleshooting problems that arise with machinery and making basic repairs.
    • Regularly inspecting, cleaning, and performing maintenance on machinery to keep it in good working order.
  • Updating logs with maintenance information.
  • Completing productivity reports, detailing the number of parts or products made during each shift.
  • Following health and safety rules to reduce the risk of workplace injury.
  • Ability to move materials or finished goods from one location to another.
  • Attentiveness to detail to spot flaws in products or problems with equipment.
  • Dispatch of finished products in bulk form to the Packaging dept., for onward preparation (not done by applicant) of packaging, including labelling of containers, for pack-off of finished product and dispatch
  • Carry out any required duties safely and according to documented procedures. Actively participate in improving RLF’s safety culture in accordance with the company’s Safety Policy and other safety initiatives.
  • Actively participate in the sites, incident reporting system, management of change, and other safety management systems including in-house and external training provided by the company.
  • Lifting of task raw materials
  • Ensure work is carried out in compliance with RLF’s Quality Policy and documented standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain good communication and working relationships with all RLF staff in pursuit of the above activities
  • Undertake other tasks as required at the direction of the Production Manager or senior site management.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification (science-based discipline is preferred)
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role with direct experience in liquids processing role
  • Previous warehouse/stores/safety/quality exposure
  • With forklift certification/license (NCII)
  • Knowledgeable in production, warehouse and proficient in safe forklift operation
  • Preferably with experience in operating/driving HELI 3.0T Diesel Forklift
  • Formulator or fertilizers or chemical experience is highly desirable
  • Industry experience in chemical or liquid fertilizer manufacturing is desirable
