Job Summary:

An Outside Plant Design Manager is responsible for the Analysis, Planning, and Design of Cost-Effective Outside Plant Facilities & Network. Perform detailed designs for all required feeder facility relief including Central Office transfers, major undertakings and/or routine activities after closely coordinating with the planning group. Responsible for make-ready work with fiber distribution projects and must be familiar with various outside plant engineering concepts and documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide detailed designs for Outside Plant Facilities (feeder and distribution).
  • Plan & Prepare drawings for construction of new & removal or rearrangement of existing fiber optics.
  • Responsible for Right of Way functions including investigating and acquiring easement interests in real property as well as interface with customers and other internal groups to negotiate service intervals on delayed or potentially delayed orders.
  • Identify any NESC or Utility violations and revise point of attachment (POA) for fiber bundle to meet NESC and utility clearance requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and scale the end-to-end process for make-ready, permitting, right-of-way, etc. to accelerate fiber design and construction.
  • Conduct job costing activities and monitor expenditures to control incurred costs.
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams within network and OSP engineering to ensure a cost-effective plant.
  • Coach and Train other Designers & QC other Engineers Designs.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of 4-year Engineering degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Outside Plant Design Engineering work experience.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must have a full understanding of Outside Plant Facilities Installation, Permitting, and Traffic Control Plans.
  • Demonstrated experience with ARAMIS, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), BST-CAD, Pole Analysis, Facilities Inventory, and other related systems & tools.
  • Strong Verbal and Written communication skills.
