Job Summary:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of payroll processing and providing support and assistance to all Salaried and Hourly Paid employees in relation to their salaries and wages. The Payroll Officer is responsible for providing management with information and reports as requested which specifically relate to the Payroll function. The Payroll Officer is responsible for liaising with Government Authorities, Workcover Authorities, and Superannuation Funds and they are an active member of the Business Information team.

Key Performance Measures

Service

  • Ensure all employees are paid accurately and on time. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Entering new starters and contract changes
    • Calculating and processing termination payments
    • Importing Time & Attendance data
    • Running and validating payroll reports
    • Produce EFTs and payslips
    • Advancing the pay period and calculating leave liabilities
    • Uploading the payroll journals to QAD
  • Assisting with the weekly after-pay process:
    • Entering vouchers for payments to 3rd party partners for PAYG/Child
    • Support/Union Fees
    • Reporting Single Touch to the ATO
    • Uploading Superannuation contributions
    • Sending Time & Attendance data to Labour Hire Agencies
    • Following up on Employee Exceptions and queries
  • Ensure reconciliations and/or payments to External Stakeholders are processed accurately and on time. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Weekly – Single Touch Payroll, Superannuation, Child Support, Union Deductions

Assisting the Payroll Manager with any other ad-hoc reporting as required

  • Payroll Completion by 2 pm Mondays
  • Midweek Payments <3 per week 90% of the time
  • 0 Over/Underpayments
  • 0 Penalties incurred from External Stakeholders

Qualifications:

Essential experience

  • Prior end-to-end payroll experience on a national scale (including Payroll Tax & Workcover legislation)
  • A proven working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A tenacious approach to identifying, understanding, and resolving issues
  • Good verbal and written communication skills – listens, interprets, and conveys information in a clear and accurate manner
  • Ability to challenge and push back if the correct procedure or process is not being adhered to, always maintaining professionalism and integrity.
