Position Summary

The PMO Analyst, reporting to the Head of Programme & Portfolio, plays a crucial role in enhancing and maintaining the PMO processes within our organization. This position ensures that PMO standards are clearly understood, adhered to, and effectively implemented across various teams. Responsibilities include governing project risks and issues, maintaining the accuracy of PMO data, and fostering the adoption of agile methodologies. The role involves facilitating project closures, delivering training, and serving as the primary contact for PMO-related queries, thereby driving project success and promoting innovation and high standards of project governance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that PMO processes are clearly understood and properly implemented throughout the organization, acting as the main point of contact for all PMO-related inquiries and providing necessary support and guidance.
  • Lead training initiatives on PMO tools and processes, empowering both internal and outsourced teams, and promote best practices to support the transition towards agile methodologies within the organization.
  • Assist in project closures, ensuring adherence to governance standards. Manage project tooling, including user access, setup, and configuration. Maintain the completeness and accuracy of PMO data.
  • Continuously review and report on project risks and issues. Support the balance between agile innovation and risk governance, aligning projects with organizational goals and standards.
  • Engage with stakeholders through the project intake process, providing clear communication and support. Develop performance dashboards, generate reports for project boards, and conduct regular reporting to inform management of the portfolio status.
  • Participate in the ongoing enhancement of PMO processes and governance documentation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field such as business administration, data science, project management, or equivalent. Formal PMO or project management experience is not required, but a strong foundation in data-related practices is essential.
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to manage and interpret large datasets using tools such as Excel, PowerBI, or similar.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to identify patterns and insights across disparate data points. Strong problem-solving abilities to anticipate and mitigate project risks.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with stakeholders and providing training and guidance on PMO processes and tools. The ability to communicate complex data insights in an understandable manner is essential.
  • An understanding of and experience with supporting the adoption of agile methodologies within a project management context, balancing the need for rapid delivery with risk governance.
  • A self-driven, proactive approach to identifying and solving problems, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and methodologies. Must be able to work independently and navigate complex project environments.
