Job Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Compliance Specialist/Officer to ensure the company's adherence to various regulatory requirements and standards. This role involves managing tax compliance, PEZA regulations, local government ordinances, BOI commitments, and facilitating external audits. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • · Tax Compliance (BIR):
    • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns, including VAT, Withholding Tax, and Income Tax returns, in compliance with BIR regulations.
    • Ensure timely payment of taxes and monitor tax deadlines to avoid penalties.
    • Maintain records and documentation required for tax audits and inspections.
    • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations issued by the BIR and implement necessary adjustments to ensure compliance.
    • Coordinate with external tax consultants or auditors for complex tax matters.
  • · PEZA Compliance:
    • Monitor compliance with PEZA regulations and incentives applicable to the company's operations within economic zones.
    • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to PEZA, including application for incentives, annual reports, and compliance certificates.
    • Liaise with PEZA officials for inspections, audits, and inquiries, and ensure prompt response to any issues raised.
    • Assist in the renewal of PEZA registration and compliance certifications.
    • Maintain communication channels with PEZA representatives for updates and clarifications on regulations.
  • · Local Government Unit (LGU) Compliance:
    • Understand and comply with local ordinances, permits, and licenses required for the company's business operations.
    • Coordinate with LGU offices for securing business permits, zoning clearances, environmental permits, and other regulatory approvals.
    • Monitor compliance with LGU tax requirements, such as local business taxes and fees.
    • Address any violations or complaints from LGU authorities and take necessary corrective actions.
  • · Board of Investments (BOI) Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to BOI registration requirements and guidelines for registered projects or investments.
    • Prepare and submit necessary documents for BOI registration, incentives applications, and compliance reports.
    • Monitor compliance with BOI performance commitments, including export targets, local content requirements, and employment generation.
    • Coordinate with BOI officials for inquiries, audits, and updates on regulations affecting registered projects.
  • · External Audits:
    • Gather and organize relevant documents, records, and supporting evidence requested by the external auditors.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to schedule audit meetings, interviews, and onsite visits as needed.
    • Prepare audit schedules, working papers, and audit trails to facilitate the audit process.
    • Address any issues or discrepancies identified by auditors promptly and collaboratively.
  • · Documentation and Recordkeeping:
    • Maintain organized and updated records of compliance documents, permits, licenses, and correspondence with regulatory agencies.
    • Establish document control procedures to ensure accessibility and confidentiality of compliance records.
    • Prepare compliance reports and presentations for management review and regulatory submissions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in compliance, auditing, or regulatory affairs.
  • In-depth knowledge of Philippine tax laws, PEZA regulations, BOI guidelines, and local government ordinances.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously.
  • Experience facilitating external audits and interacting with auditors.
  • Proficiency in document management and recordkeeping.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision.

Desired Skills:

  • CPA or relevant professional certification.
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as manufacturing, BPO, or financial services.
  • Familiarity with compliance software and systems.
